Interview

I went to my interview in Oxford. I talked to the VP. That part went well. I talked to the head of the secretarial pool. She is an old woman who looks like she has been alive forever. She had these rimmed black glasses sitting on the tip of her nose. She talked slow. She looked me up and down as if I had on white after Labor Day. She asked me questions that I know had nothing to do with the position. Why in the world do I need to know how an amortization schedule works? When she finished with me, I talked to someone in HR. That went well. I got the impression that ole girl from the secretarial pool doesn't like to hire secretaries from the outside without them being temps first.

I talked to the VP after the interview with HR. He said not to worry. He would talk to ole girl in the secretarial pool.

I am not going to worry about it.

Good News

I heard from the VP that I use to work for.  He found a new job.  It is in Oxford.  It is like an hour drive from me.  (Although I could spend the week at KiKi's place.)

He told me to come in on Monday for an interview with the lady in charge of the secretarial pool.  He said that he has requested that I get the job and that the interview is a formality.  He also said that he told them what salary he wanted me to have.  It is a considerable raise from what I was getting at the other company.

That's cool.  Thank You, Lord.

Recovered

I have recovered from the Women's Convocation. I am well rested and ready to go again.

I haven't started looking for a job yet. I am going to wait until after the Youth Convocation.

Speaking of the Youth Convocation, I had lunch with KiKi today. It was cool. I drove over to Oxford and hung out with her. (It must be nice to be a part of a family business.) Anyway, she is working on the Youth Convocation right now. She is the co-ordinator for the event. I am just the event co-ordinator for the GBF Women's Ministry. I am just supposed to co-ordinate events that happen over the whole women's ministry. I end up helping Clare all of the time. Each month, in each region, we are supposed to have some kind of outing. We don’t always do it, but I try to get something happening.

Most of the events have been shopping trips. I can't stand shopping, but so many of the other women do. I try to sneak in a movie or bowling night. Doesn't usually go over too well at times. I am rambling, aren't I?

KiKi and I went to lunch at Dawkins Café. I had the chicken salad. Their chicken salad is good. KiKi had the salmon. She always has the salmon. I can't talk much because I usually either have the chicken salad or the chicken sandwich. Oh well. It was good to get out. We didn't even talk about my job. That's the cool thing about KiKi; she doesn't bug you about what's bugging you. You usually end up forgetting what is wrong in your life when you are with her.

We talked about AD, though. She is having too much fun enjoying the fact that he told me that he has feelings for me. Why did she sing... "But you say he's just a friend."? That girl is crazy.

I am going to go find something to do.

Can I Enjoy the Service Please?

We start the classes today. I only got to attend one class: Money Management. I got called out of the other class I was in because there was a problem with one of the classrooms. Oh well. I heard that the “It’s Time to Pray” class was off the chain. Apparently, they ended up having an altar by the end of class. I am upset that I got called out of the class.

I wouldn’t have eaten lunch if KiKi wouldn’t have brought me something. I was in the middle of doing something when she grabbed me and pulled me out of the room. She told everyone in the room, “She needs to eat. If she passes out, you all are going to be looking at her funny and talking about her, so I am going to make sure that she eats. She will be back in 15 minutes. Whatever is going on will keep until she gets back.” That’s my girl.

I am going to have to get the tape of the service for tonight. I didn’t get to hear much of the service. Don’t ask why.

Registration Went Well

Wow, registration went rather well today. We had a lot of people register late this year. Normally, more people register early. I was running around like crazy trying to get more badges ready. We almost ran out.

I had to recruit a couple of extra people to man the registration booths because people were coming in droves. This convocation has been one of the largest turnouts ever.

We had a service tonight. It was good. The choir sung and Dr. Garnett-Adkins preached like she was crazy. I enjoyed myself.

I am so tired. I didn’t even eat lunch. KiKi fussed at me when I got back to the room.

Why do we both have our laptops here?

In Dorinda For Women’s Convocation

KiKi and I left for the Women’s Convocation earlier this evening. We got to Dorinda around 7:00 PM. We met with Dr. Garnett-Adkins and her secretary to discuss some of the arrangements for the Convocation. We ate dinner and then went back to the hotel. So far, things are good.

The convocation starts tomorrow with registration. I hope people have their stuff together.

Job Has Ended

Well, the job ended today at 4:20 PM. The company is no longer here. I stayed and helped them break down the remaining equipment. They were begging people to help, so I helped. I didn’t have anything else to do. A lot of people, who were scheduled to come in, didn’t even come in. It was a trip. Some people kept their equipment that they were assigned from the company. People have laptops, cell phones, PDAs, and more that they haven’t returned. One of the VPs told some people, “If you got equipment, keep it!” He was serious, too.

I am feeling okay right now. I am at the house chilling. My girl, KiKi left three messages for me. AD left me a couple of messages. I haven’t felt like talking to anyone. Dr. Garnett-Adkins, from the Greater Buelahland Fellowship called me. She left me a message. It was very encouraging. Some of other people from the GBF Women’s Ministry called me: Minister Billie Casey, Eliz Campbell, and Charity Weaver. They were cool.

My pastor, first lady, and women’s director called me from my church. I have gotten plenty of encouragement today, so I don’t have anything to worry about.

Next week, I will be at the Women’s Convocation, so, I won’t have time to worry about anything.
